Grilla Grills vs Recteq Comparison
In this guide, I have compared the Grilla Grills vs Recteq Pellet Grills which have different features, pros, and cons. I have reviewed their price, durability, cooking capacity, and functioning. You can choose the best one that suits your needs.
The difference between Grilla Grills and Recteq pellet grills is that Grilla Grills have double-walled steel construction, due to which they have a more robust body and are considered heavy-duty pellet grills. However, if I talk about the material, Recteq pellet grills are entirely made of stainless steel. On the other hand, Grilla Grills have all stainless interior components, while the entire body of Grilla Grills is made of heavy-duty 16 gauge steel.

Features Comparison Between Grilla Grills and Recteq Pellet Grills
Recteq pellet grills are available in several cooking areas. On the other hand, Grilla Grill has only oen standard model of its pellet grill i.e. Silverbac. It would not be suitable to compare GG Silverbac with RT-700 or RT-1250 as their cooking area is quite larger than that of GG Silverbac. Due to this reason, for simplicity, I will only compare Recteq 590 pellet grill with Grilla Grill silverbac.
Grilla Grill Silverbac vs Recteq 590 Material
The RT-590 Pellet Grill is completely made of 304-grade stainless steel, which makes it different from all other pellet grills. The cooking chamber, lid, pellet grill legs, and internal components (drip tray, grill grates, cooking chamber) of the RT-590 Pellet Grill are made of stainless steel. I think, due to the stainless steel material of a cooking chamber, the cost of a Recteq 590 pellet grill is a little higher compared to the Grilla Grill Silverbac.
The stainless steel provides a strong and durable surface that can withstand high temperatures for long periods of time. It also prevents rust and corrosion and keeps the whole pellet grill in extreme conditions. Unlike Grilla Grill Silverbac, RT-590 does not feature a double-walled construction. However, due to the use of stainless steel material, you don’t have to worry about its quality.
Although the body of Grilla Grill Silverbac is not made of stainless steel, the double-walled 16-gauge steel construction of the lower half of the cooking chamber makes it highly robust. That is the main selling point of Grilla Grills as the double-walled construction helps maintain the temperature inside the pellet grill in cold weather conditions.
Moreover, the use of double-walled 16-gauge steel instead of stainless steel in Grilla Grills has also decreased the cost to a greater extent so that anyone could buy it without breaking the bank. Otherwise, the cost of GG pellet grills would be much higher if they had used stainless steel for double-walled construction.
However, if I talk about the internal components of Grilla Grill Silverbac i.e. drip tray, grill grates, firepot, the heat baffle, etc. they are all made of stainless steel. However, if I talk about the cooking chamber and hopper of Grilla Grill Silverbac, it is made of heavy-duty 16-gauge steel.
Grilla Grill Silverbac vs Recteq 590 Construction
The construction of the Recteq 590 Grilla Grill is quite simple with two horns on the lid to help you lift the lid. On the other hand, Grilla Silverbac has a simple chrome-plated handle attached to the lid.
Although the handle of GG Silverbac imparts a nice look to the pellet grill compared to the horns-like handle on RT-590, it becomes uncomfortably hot that can burn your hand when cooking at a higher temperature.Â
The advantage of a horns-like handle on the Recteq 590 pellet grill is that the greater area is exposed to the surrounding, due to which there is more heat dissipation, and the Recteq pellet grill handle does not become hot.
Another notable difference between RT-590 and GG Silverbac is the installation of smokestack on GG Silverbac. On the other hand, the Recteq-590 pellet grill features vent holes on the back instead of a smokestack. You can check my guide on the difference between vent holes and smokestack on pellet grills to learn more.
Although vent holes instead of smokestack on a pellet grill allow an efficient heat distribution inside a pellet grill, it can cause troubles in the rainy or windy weather. Since there isn’t any cap on vent holes like a smokestack on a pellet grill, the rain can enter the pellet grill, or the gusty wind can cause temperature fluctuations.Â
In my point of view, the reason for using vent holes instead of the installation of a smokestack on the Recteq 590 pellet grill was to reduce the manufacturing cost so that the company would be able to provide excellent durability and efficient functioning with a high cooking surface area at a lesser price.
Recteq pellet grill also differs from GG Silverbac in terms of lower body design. Grilla Silverbac pellet grill has a cabinet base with a powder coat finish, and the upper body is made of stainless steel. The grill is a little heavy, but its weight is not really an issue as you can store grilling accessories in the cabinet of your Grilla Silverbac pellet grill.
Recteq pellet grill, on the other hand, has no cabinet base. Instead, it has a cart-like structure. So, it’s a matter of choice whichever design you may like. The additional material of cabinet material in the Silverbac grill doesn’t add significant cost.
Grilla Grill Silverbac vs Recteq 590 Hopper CapacityÂ
Recteq 590 pellet grill has a hopper capacity of 30lb, while Grilla Grill Silverbac pellet grill has a hopper capacity of 20lb. In brief, the hopper capacity of a pellet grill is the maximum amount of pellets that can be placed in the pellet grill.
However, the later version of Grilla Silverbac features a pellet dump mechanism in the hopper that allows to easily clean out the hopper without having to open the hopper lid. This is the unique selling feature of Grilla Grills which several customers keep an eye on.
Grilla Grill Silverbac vs Recteq 590 Cooking Capacity
The main cooking area of a Recteq 590 pellet grill is 592 square inches, while the main cooking area of Grilla Grill Silverbac is 507 square inches. It is the main cooking area of a pellet grill where searing and grilling of meat is done.
The secondary cooking area is just for heating purposes. So, Recteq 590 pellet grill has an edge over Grilla Grill in terms of large cooking area and height to easily hold larger cuts like the packer brisket, and handle a large 20lb of turkey.
However, the thing I liked about Grilla Silverbac is that it also comes with a secondary grate for heating food. So, you don’t have to spend extra money. In the case of the Recteq 590 pellet grill, you will have to separately buy secondary grates.
Grilla Grill Silverbac vs Recteq 590 Functioning
In this section, I will compare the following features of Grilla Grill Silverbac vs Recteq 590 Functioning:
- Maximum temperature
- Controller
- Temperature Probes
Both Recteq 590 and GG Silverbac pellet grills have a maximum temperature of 500 to 600 degrees Fahrenheit, which is perfect for searing meat and cooking burgers. Neither of the pellet grills features direct flame functionality comparable to that found on the Pit Boss grill.
Here’s what a user says about his experience of cooking pizza in Grilla Grill Silverbac.
Did a few pizzas this weekend at 500 on a stone in windy and relatively cold conditions and it didn’t eat too many pellets and recovery time between pies was shorter than my home oven.
Talking about the controller, both Grilla Grill Silverbac and RT-590 pellet grill features a PID controller. In terms of efficiency, PID controllers of both pellet grills are fabulous. You won’t face any temperature swing issues. However, some users have complained that there is lesser smoke produced by Grilla Silverbac pellet grill.
In addition to the PID controller mode, Grilla Silverbac pellet grill also features a traditional controller mode. It is not so much efficient as it can cause temperature swings. But, you will get a smoke flavor if you use this mode.
Also, both Grilla Silverbac and Recteq 590 feature WiFi mode so that you can remotely control the temperature of a pellet grill. However, there are some issues with the application of Recteq pellet grill to control the temperature through WiFi. Wifi app of Recteq pellet grill is too basic. You need to be able to create profiles.
Lastly, if I talk about temperature probes, Recteq pellet grill features an additional Wifi meat probe to monitor the internal temperature of the meat. On the other hand, Grilla Grills Silverbac only features one temperature probe.
Grilla Grills Silverbac vs Recteq 590 Pellet Grill Packaging and Shipping
Users didn’t find any issue with the packaging of the Recteq 590 pellet grill. On the other hand, few users have faced some issues with Grilla Grills pellet grills shipping. Since the Grilla Grills pellet grills are heavy and robust, they have to be shipped via truck where they don’t always take the best care of the package. However, Grilla Grills’s customer service is excellent. If you find any issue with the part, they will instantly replace it.
